in reply to: Dacor C 2 Clipper high pressure seat wanted #4598
Well, zero luck finding a replacement hp seat for the C 2. But… My existing seat looked a little cruddy but possibly serviceable. So I decided to try and refinish it. I learned to do this on DAAM seats. When I joined the VDH forum back in 2006 there were no replacements available. Bryan was kind enough to fix that situation. Anyway, you get some thing with a level surface. I use a piece of marble back splash. I started with 400 grit wet dry sand paper. You make a figure eight pattern being careful to be square with your cutting surface. The volcano orifice creates a ring like indentation in the seat. This must be sanded out. Once that is done repeat the process with 800 grit and I finished with 2000 grit. I put the reg back together and put it on a tank and slowly opened the valve. It’s alive! Success. While I hope you never have to do this, it does work and can save the day.

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THE FORUM BACK!!! I really miss the old days. I am so glad that I got to meet Bryan and get to know him a little bit. He is really missed! Thanks again Rob!
